Laura Zommer es la directora general de Chequeado en Argentina, la primera iniciativa de fact-checking en Latinoamérica. Es creadora de LatamChequea y cofundadora de Factchequeado. Es periodista, abogada y emprendedora, miembro del Board de la International Fact-Checking Network, del consejo consultivo de SembraMedia, de Gênero e Número y de la escuela de Derecho de la Universidad Di Tella. También es maestra de la Fundación Gabo de Periodismo.
Se define como “Madre, yogi, docente y fan del dulce de leche”. Trabaja por más transparencia, acceso a la información y datos abiertos (¡y verificados!). Sueña con entusiasmar y comprometer a muchos más.
Dice: “Quiero y trabajo para mejorar la calidad del debate público en la Argentina. Desde Chequeado, una organización de non profit journalism, verificamos el discurso y utilizamos el periodismo de datos y las redes sociales para activar la participación de muchos más y para que la información que circula sea abierta y más transparente.”
Laura Zommer is the general director of Chequeado, an Argentine nonprofit journalism organization and the first fact-checking initiative in Latin America. She is the general director of Chequeado, a fact-checking site in Argentina, co-founder of Factchequeado in the U.S., and creator of the LatamChequea network. She is a journalist, lawyer, entrepreneur and executive.
She is a member of the board for the International Fact-Checking Network, Gênero e Número and of the Law School of Universidad Di Tella, in Argentina. She also teaches for the Fundación Gabo de Periodismo.
She defines herself as a “mother, yogi, teacher and fan of dulce de leche.” In her work she strives for increased transparency, access to information and open (and verified!) data. She dreams of inspiring and engaging many more people.
She says, “I work to improve the quality of public debate in Argentina. At Chequeado, we verify discourse and use data journalism and social networks to make the information that circulates more open and transparent. We also encourage citizens to share verified information.”
