Katherine está a cargo de la edición de textos en inglés para las comunicaciones de SembraMedia.
Katherine es cofundadora y editora de El Colectivo 506, un medio de comunicación independiente en Costa Rica enfocado en el periodismo de soluciones y comunidades rurales. Es periodista y editora experimentada, con especial interés en reportajes en profundidad sobre inmigración, educación, derechos de la mujer e iniciativas de la sociedad civil.
Como ganadora de una Beca Rosalynn Carter de Periodismo de Salud Mental 2021-2022 (Centro Carter, EEUU), dirige un esfuerzo de capacitación y apoyo a periodistas rurales en Costa Rica para que desarrollen reportajes sobre ese tema. Ha trabajado como directora del periódico The Tico Times, como consultora de comunicaciones y recaudación de fondos, y es cofundadora de las iniciativas sociales JumpStart Costa Rica y Costa Rica Corps; ha colaborado con medios internacionales incluyendo Yes! Magazine y The Huffington Post. Vive en San José con su esposo Adrián y su hija Emma Jane, para quien escribió “Love in Translation: Letters to My Costa Rican Daughter”, publicado en el 2016.

Katherine is the co-founder and editor of El Colectivo 506, an independent media outlet in Costa Rica focused on solutions journalism and rural communities. An experienced journalist and editor, she specializes in long-form reporting on immigration, education, women’s rights, and civil society. As a Rosalynn Carter Fellow for Mental Health Journalism (Carter Center, USA, 2021-2022), she leads an effort to train and support rural journalists in Costa Rica as they develop reporting on this topic. Katherine has worked as the editor-in-chief of The Tico Times; a communications and fundraising consultant; a presidential speechwriter; and the co-founder of two service initiatives, JumpStart Costa Rica and the Costa Rica Corps. She has published in international media including Yes! Magazine and The Huffington Post. She lives in San José with her husband Adrián and her daughter Emma Jane, for whom she wrote “Love in Translation: Letters to My Costa Rican Daughter,” published in 2016.
