Fabiola Torres es la directora y fundadora de Salud con Lupa.Es Knight Fellow del Centro Internacional para Periodistas (ICFJ) y miembro del Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas de Investigación (ICIJ).
En 2018 fue parte del equipo de la premiada serie global Implant Files: el primer examen a la millonaria industria de dispositivos médicos, envuelta en numerosos escándalos de conflictos de interés, corrupción y prácticas abusivas con los pacientes. Ese mismo año integró el grupo de reporteros que ganó el premio Gabriel García Márquez en la categoría cobertura por la serie Venezuela a la Fuga.
En 2017, su reportaje Amarakaeri: la carretera que cruza el corazón de la Amazonía recibió el premio de la Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa (SIP) en la categoría Medio Ambiente.
Torres es co-fundadora del sitio digital Ojo Público donde fue editora de análisis de datos y coordinadora de reconocidas series transnacionales (2014 – mayo 2019). Su experiencia incluye una década como reportera en el diario El Comercio (2004-2014).
Fabiola Torres is the director and founder of Salud con Lupa. She is also a Knight Fellow with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and is a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
In 2018 she was part of the team of investigative journalists who produced the award-winning Implant Files, the first reporting project to examine the multi-million dollar medical device industry. The investigation revealed conflicts of interest, corruption and patient abuse. That same year, she was part of the group of reporters who won the Gabriel García Márquez award for the reporting project “Venezuela on the Run.”
In 2017, her report “Amarakaeri: The road that crosses the heart of the Amazon” received the Inter-American Press Society Award (IAPA) for environmental reporting.
Torres is one of the co-founders of the digital media site Ojo Público, where she worked as a data analysis editor and the coordinator of the organization’s renowned transnational reporting from 2014 to 2019. Prior to Ojo Público, Torres worked for a decade as a reporter at the El Comercio newspaper (2004-2014).
