Our core team is made up of journalists, entrepreneurs, teachers, and innovators who understand how difficult it is to start and grow a news organization. We know because many of us have founded media startups ourselves.
Our team of digital media specialists conduct research and build networks in more than 20 countries in Latin America, the United States and Spain.
We also hire consultants, mentors, and academics to provide expertise in our research, training and acceleration programs.

Our first language is Spanish and most of our core team is Latin American, but we work with professionals from more than 60 countries on research and other projects. This international diversity enables us to recognize global trends and build partnerships.
Our roots are in Latin America, where we first began studying journalism entrepreneurs in 2015. We quickly expanded to include Spanish-language media in Spain, Canada and the U.S.
To better understand global trends, in 2021, we expanded our research to include media in Southeast Asia and Africa, producing a report on common trends, opportunities and challenges.
In 2023, we expanded to Europe, hiring a team of researchers to map and study independent digital media in more than 44 countries.
In 2024, we launched Global Project Oasis, a report and directory that includes media in Latin America, the United States and Canada, and Europe. Next, we plan to expand our research into Australia, New Zealand, India, and Africa.
